HONDA ACCORD

The Honda Accord is synonymous with one of the best selling and most popular automobiles. One can comment that this car has stepped up from the ranks of greatness to a class of relative excellence. Such things as reliability, ergonomics and more of a european facade make it one of the best all around contenders. Local dealers boast about customer satisfaction. "After all, you are buying a Honda". That quote should be the company's new catch phrase. All glorifying aside, Honda is getting progressively close to developing a near perfect sedan.

Although refinements from 1998 are minor, the 1999 Accord in roomier, features new seat upholstery, a better engine with added power and a notably improved suspension. Driving this car through some back country roads could almost make country folk feel like Mario Andreti. But if it's a sport you looking for, you could always consider the 1999 Honda 2 door coupe. Somewhat of a rebel offshoot, snaring only door handles and headlights with it's more conservative siblings, the coupe offers a more tighter suspension.

The 1999 Accord offers a variety of trims, nine to be exact. For the sedan starting with a 135 horse power 2.3 liter DX, all the way up to the impressive 200 horsepower 3.0 liter EXV6. Also sharing the same engine is the near top of the line LX V6. The middle level LX and EX trims feature an upgraded VTEC version which offers 15 horsepower more than the bare engine. The two door coupe also offers the LX, EX, LX V6 and EX V6 trims.

All models offer a standard anti-theft system. It should be mentioned that the 4 cylinder LX models with A/T are certified in California as ULEV's. For those of us who are "environmentally impaired" that translates into Ultra Low Emissions Vehicles.
